2022 NEW ORLEANS JAZZ FESTIVAL EXPERIENCE
Art. Music. Wine. What do all of these have in common? They draw upon emotion, create lasting memories, and transport you to specific moments in time.
In 2022, we traveled to the heart of New Orleans where the soul of Jazz was born for an experience like no other. Together, we celebrated the culture of New Orleans with a one-of-a-kind trip to the Big Easy hosted by Winemaker Christopher Carpenter that allowed our collectors and guests to dive deeper into the masterpiece that is Cardinale and one of Christopher’s greatest inspirations– music.

Blending Music and Wine
Wine, like music, can move you emotionally. And when the two are blended together, magic happens. For over 30 years, winemaker Christopher Carpenter has traveled to Louisiana for the famed New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. As a music lover, it's been a constant source of inspiration and a mecca to escape the vines and winery cellar to feed his soul both literally and figuratively. It was here that Chris first heard the unique soulful sounds of GRAMMY award-nominated artist Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews. On a sunny fall day, Chris traveled to New Orleans to sit down with Trombone Shorty at his studio. Watch as the two chat about inspiration and creativity and even share a glass of Cardinale, too.
“But before you can understand how much music means to me, you have to know how important it is to my hometown, my greatest inspiration.”
ABOUT TROY “TROMBONE SHORTY” ANDREWS:
Part Jimi Hendrix, part James Brown and all New Orleans, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews is a singular artist who puts his own spin on traditional American musical forms. Andrews is the bandleader and frontman of Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, a nine-piece hard-edged funk band that employs brass-band beats, rock dynamics and improvisation in a jazz tradition. A GRAMMY Award nominee for his album ‘Backatown’, Andrews' virtuosity and high-energy live shows have drawn unanimous raves on six continents, with Rolling Stone calling him a “must-see act.” As co-founder and namesake of the Trombone Shorty Foundation, he aims to preserve and perpetuate New Orleans music and culture by inspiring and teaching the next generation of New Orleans musicians.
SHORTY FEST 2022:
Cardinale is proud to support The Trombone Shorty Foundation’s largest annual fundraising event, taking place this year on Monday, May 2. Held at New Orleans’ legendary music venue, Tipitina’s, the Shorty Fest helps support traditional jazz music education, instruction, mentorship, and performance in New Orleans, empowering young musicians to continue the musical traditions of the jazz legends before them.

TROMBONE SHORTY FOUNDATION:
The Trombone Shorty Foundation, founded in 2012, seeks to build the next generation of young talent: to create music industry career pathways for New Orleans youth, empower them with the skills and perspective to succeed in business and in life, and to offer mentorship and support throughout the process. The work of the Foundation is inspired by Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, who was one such youth whose community support in academics, music, and business fostered a career that represents New Orleans culture around the world.
